Apparel Technical Design Experience

Below are selected products I designed during my fashion career, all examples of effective problem-solving, committing to high expectations, and stellar execution from a diverse set of teams.

All products were developed with overseas or domestic factories and required our teams to manage complex and dynamic supply chains to deliver our products to customers. These products were some of the best-selling items and received praise from professional publications, customer love on social media, and lots of engagement in the blogger/influencer realm.

Aritzia - Wilfred Melina Vegan Leather Pant

Winter 2019 to 2024

The Vegan Leather Pant that blew up on Tiktok and found its way in every influencer’s closet, despite a pandemic.

The Fall 2019 season presented a major fit opportunity in pants; they were not selling and customer feedback on fit was negative.  Up against deadlines we were heavily invested in a faux leather pant trend that was not ready to deliver for next season.  This pant needed to be signed off in 1 round to deliver on time, and I was brought in at 11th hour to solve the fit problem. Not only was fit corrected and approved in time, but also this pant continues to be a top selling item for the Wilfred brand and total company.

Alice + Olivia - Gorgeous Wide Leg Denim Jumpsuit

Spring 2018 - Spring 2021

The jumpsuit that shook New York and celebrity scene alike.

Denim was a new business focus when this jumpsuit was developed, produced in a local facility notorious for cutting corners.  It had a star quality reaction amongst the office, so we knew we had to knock it out of the park.  The trouble with denim is dealing with multiple chemical treatments that can impact garment fit, and a jumpsuit brings additional challenges to fit multiple body types.  With a stellar fit specialist team, we collaboratively built the fit prototype to accommodate chemical treatments and achieved a form-fitting 1970’s-inspired silhouette. This jumpsuit became an instant hit as a result.

Express x Karlie Kloss

Spring 2017

Karlie’s initial capsule launch with Express was focused on fitting everyday staples for inspiring women of all body types.

Based on a vintage Dior gown from Kloss’ personal wardrobe, we had to develop this dress for the Express customer in a special collection.  The caveat? Because it was her personal sample, we could not send to the factory to recreate the design.  We had to visually deconstruct the garment’s details and instruct the factory how to assemble, then determine how it would be feasible to engineer to meet the design intent. With many devoted team members working to deliver this special design, the dress became the “it” look of the marketing campaign.  Bloggers everywhere determined this to be a must-have item of the season.
